T-Mobile will finally offer Apple's iPhone - News - Know Your Cell

In December T-Mobile reached an agreement to finally sell Apple products. Oddly enough, that news came right after the company noted that the iPhone wasn't worth it. "Make no mistake about it: We would love to carry the iPhone. However, we want the economies to be right for us," said Jim Alling, COO of T-Mobile USA.

Apparently it didn't take long at all for the economies to start looking right for T-Mobile, because it just told Reuters during a CES 2013 interview that it will begin selling Apple's iPhone within three to four months. According to the report,?T-Mobile chief executive John Legere said that the company's timing for selling the smartphone would be sooner rather than later.

... Not that this is soon, by any stretch. This will make T-Mobile the last U.S. provider to offer the coveted iOS handset.?Still, better late than never, right? With any luck, this will help bring back some of the customers who left, due to the fact that the iPhone wasn't an option. In any case, it should certainly help attract new subscribers. But the competition remains fierce, as T-Mobile will need to lure folks away from big-time rivals like Verizon and AT&T.?

On the other hand, that may very well be possible if T-Mobile goes ahead with cutting subsidies, which it has also noted is part of its new plan. Legere said during the interview that he could possibly increase T-Mobile USA's market share by five percent or higher by doing this. "If the old industry structure chooses to ignore what we do, that's a potential," he added.?
