VANCOUVER, BC, Nov. 4,2012/ Troy Media/ ? The Fall meme for Canada is ?Warrior Nation.? Whether it?s witty ?Harper Dictatorship? movie dubs on YouTube, the Conservative celebration of the War of 1812, the new citizenship guide Discover Canada, the recently published Warrior Nation: Rebranding Canada in an Age of Anxiety (by historians Ian McKay and Jamie Swift), renaming the Museum of Civilization the Museum of History, or Geist magazine?s Fall issue cover, there is lots of buzz about the Conservative government?s promotion of Canadian military prowess as our new national badge of honour.

For anyone who came of age as a Boomer, this transformation of identity will require a full-on commitment to revisionism. Out with the blue helmeted Pearsonian Canadian peace-keepers, and the politely committed members of Canadian developmental NGOs in Africa; cue the Royal Canadian Regiment the First World War infantry at Passchendaele, and the prairie farm boys who went ?over the top? into the gut- strewn haze of ?no man?s land.?
